So today one of my flatmates and I went to Potsdam to visit Schloss Sanssouci. It was so beautiful! For those of you who don't remember your Prussian history, Schloss Sanssouci was the summer palace of Prussian King Frederick the Great who reigned from 1740 until 1786. The palace was build as an escape for Konig Frederick from court. The phrase "sans souci" is French term meaning "without worries" or "carefree." I gotta say, I felt pretty freakin' relaxed out there! I mean look at the place!
(Ok, so I didn't take this picture...I stole it from Google, but the tiers were not this green and it looks better with the plants!)
It was a really beautiful trip! I think we must have walked about ten miles! The palace grounds cover a pretty huge chunk of Potsdam...I think I could probably wander around for a week and not see every trail and grotto. I think I may go back before I leave Germany...
