"I'm going on an adventure!"

In the words of the beloved Shire-dwelling hobbit Bilbo Baggins, "I'm going on an adventure!" In my case, an adventure consists mainly of studying, since this trip is a study abroad session in Berlin, Germany. I've been planning for many months and the day has finally arrived...so here I sit in Albuquerque Sunport, waiting for the boarding call for the first leg of my 12-hour flight, regretting already not giving my mom a longer hug, but hey, if I'd have drawn it out, it would have been more of a sad departure than a exciting venture! So, I sit and type and try to think of the sights I'm going to see...I've never been to Europe before. In fact, I've never travelled alone before. Even when just visiting another state, I've had company. Two years ago, I spent ten days in Nicaragua, the furthest I've ever been from home, with a group of amazing students at New Mexico State University. But now I'm going it alone and so far it seems to be going smoothly. To be honest, I'm more nervous about navigating O'hare Airport during my layover and Tegel Airport at my destination than I am about living in such a big city. I think the city will be wonderful, at least I sure hope so! It will be the farthest I've ever been from home but I've waited for the day I can visit Europe for most of my life; I'm only looking at this with positivity and eagerness. I love my home, my family, my school, my friends, and I will miss you all dearly but three months will go by in a flash for both of us, I'm sure. That's all I have to say for now...maybe I'll have a chance to post an update in Chicago. Wish me luck!
